Sarah Cain was a vocal leader for the Lady Cougars during her prep career. After she graduated she retired her blue and orange for the red and gold of the Lady Lions of Bryan College. Cain has seen plenty of action for the Dayton school and now is once again headed to the post season.
For the third straight year the Lady Lions have made the field of 32 for the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship. It is their seventh appearance overall as a team. They claimed a four seed in this year’s post season tournamnent. They will be traveling to Sioux City, Iowa where they will battle fifth seed Indiana Wesleyan on March 7th with an 8 PM tip off.
This has been the best season in history for the Lady Lions. They went undefeated in conference and boasted a 26-0 conference record. They added three more conference wins in the Appalachian Athletics Conference’s post season tournament. In fact they only lost a single game in the regular season to Pulaski’s Martin Methodist College. Their Coach, Jason Smith, was named AAC Coach of the Year.
Cain was understandably excited about this season saying, ” I’m super excited for what this year’s post season has to offer. We’ve already crushed our conference tournament, and I think we’ve grown as a team since last year. So this just adds to the excitement for our national tournament.”
