Weather alert and closings! This post will be long and will grow. Flash flood warning extended until 4:15 AM and expanded to entirety of Campbell County. We are attempting to gather the closed roads in the county and will be updating this post as we get more. We are also trying to gather any other closings. Be safe and please do not try to cross flooded roads. Especially in the dark. Five people have been rescued by boat as of now.

Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins tells the Times that citizens are recommended to not travel at all overnight. If you have an emergency, call 911 and emergency responders will come to you.

The County Clerk and County Trustee offices are closed tomorrow. The MADD class scheduled for tomorrow at the courthouse is cancelled.

The Campbell County Courthouse is closed tomorrow.

IGA has received significant water damage. As has Family Dollar in the old Woodson’s Complex.

Absolute Fitness of LaFollette is closed tomorrow as the interior is flooded.

Jacksboro Middle opened as a shelter for those who cannot reach home or those who have been evacuated. The Red Cross is there.

We’ve received reports that Back Valley Road is now passable around LMS but that traffic is jammed on the small road. Use extreme caution on this road.

Glade Springs, Pleasant Ridge, Old Springs, and HWY 63 at LMS have been closed. Foothills Lane is closed. Demory Road is closed near Sudennie due to trees down. High Knob Rd at Steel/Goat Rock Bridge is also flooded but open. The bridge has been under water. Use caution in the Beech Street area. West Street in Jacksboro is closed. 25w blocked near Duff. Deerfield is reportedly cutoff from both the Long Hollow and Valley side. It is recommended that those trying to reach it not try to get there.

From LUB. Power will not be restored in areas that are without it until at least tomorrow, June 8th. The grid is not accessible via road currently and all downed trees and lines can’t yet be found.

The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Campbell County in east Tennessee…

* Until 415 AM EDT Saturday.

* At 1008 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Three to five inches of rain
with locally higher amounts have already fallen. Several roads
are closed within the warned area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
La Follette, Jacksboro, Jellico, Caryville, Lake City, Norris,
Norris Dam State Park, Elk Valley, Disney, Cove Lake State Park,
Fincastle, White Oak and Royal Blue.


Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
