Ramon Cleon Woods

Ramon Cleon Woods, age 84, of Jacksboro, TN passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, furniture restoration, croquet, blue grass music, puzzles, and pulling jokes. He loved his family and his dog, Abby, very much.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Wesley and Clementine Stevens Woods, wife Beulah Woods, son Thomas Lee Woods, daughter Dorothy Ruth Kitts, and sister Beulah Mae Teague.

He is survived by his daughters Brinda Woods of Clinton, TN, Judy Kelley of Ohio, Deborah Brown and husband Daniel of Ohio, Sally Jo Woods of South Carolina, and Nancy Sharlow and husband Timothy of Ohio, son Willie Shipley and wife Tootie of Speedwell, TN, sister Eva Barnett of Crossville, TN, many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev Kevin Walden officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012 in the Campbell MemorialGardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

William E. “Ted” Bowman

Mr. William E. “Ted” Bowman, age 95 of Alcoa, TN, formerly of LaFollette, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Alcoa. A veteran of U. S. Army in World War II. Preceded in death by wife, Lillian J. Bowman, parents, Frank Howard Bowman, Sr. and Martha Jane Hutson Bowman, several sisters and brothers.

Survivors: Sister, Martha Campbell Pelton, Ocala, FL. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bertha Masingo Head Goad

Bertha Masingo Head Goad, age 97, of LaFollette passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at LaFollette Court Assisted Living. She was born April 18, 1914 in Speedwell, community of Claiborne County, to the late Charles Elmer and Lou Isabell Masingo – the second oldest of nine siblings. She was a 1937 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and taught home economics and science for more than 30 years, retiring from LaFollette High School in 1976. She was a member of LaFollette First Baptist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers’ sorority and the order of the Eastern Star. Preceded in death by husbands, Charles McKinley Head and Joseph Henry Goad.


Daughter & Son-in-law: Wanda & JV Russell, Knoxville

Grandson: Robert Richart, Orangeburg, S.C.

Great-grandson: Colin Richart, Oak Ridge

Sister: Bonnie Page, Lake City

Stepson & wife: Joseph Henry Goad, Jr. & Sherry, Winchester, Va.

Many nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family would like to thank the staff of LaFollette Court Assisted Living facility for their loving care and support of Bertha during her last few years.

Beverly Ann Loy

Mrs. Beverly Ann Loy was a loving Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and Teacher, of LaFollette. She passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 after a courageous but losing battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by family, relatives, and friends.

It was her wish to not have a public ceremony. Her family has requested that Beverly’s friends feel free to come to Walters Funeral Home on Friday from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. at their convenience to register and receive a memorial folder. Interment will be held in Fincastle United Methodist Cemetery.

Pat Garner, age 67, of Caryville, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011. President of Senior Citizen Center and very active as Line Dance instructor and leader of Folk Art Class. Preceded in death by husband, Jim Blackburn; father, Drexel Broyles of Campbell County; mother, Willie Owens of Fentress County.
