Naomi Widener

Mrs. Naomi Widener age 85 of LaFollette passed away Friday, September 16, 2011, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. She was retired from Imperial Reading Corporation after 33 years of service and former member and past president of LaFollette Rescue Squad Crewettes. She enjoyed going to the lake and houseboat with her husband, enjoyed traveling and had visited 48 states, loved bingo, and spending time with her family. Preceded in death by husband, Gaylor “Chalk” Widener, son, Ronnie Widener, daughters, Peggy Jo Widener and Libby Goins, parents, Julius and Nannie Canady Baldwin, and sister, Christine Widener.

Survivors: Daughter, Christine Paul and husband, Carl of LaFollette; sons, Jack Widener and wife, Marie of Duff and Bill Widener and wife, Patsy of Jacksboro; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Carrie Lee Bryant of Jellico. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services Sunday 8 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating. Graveside services and interment Monday 11 A.M. at Woodlawn Cemetery. Emma L. Ward Epperson

Emma L. Ward Epperson, 84, of Powell, Tennessee, formally of LaFollette, passed away Friday evening at Golden Living Center (Windwood) in Clinton, Tennessee. Emma is a member of the High Street Baptist Church of LaFollette, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Laurel Lodge Number 22. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts and she loved reading the Bible and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev James F. Epperson; parents, Ferdin and Creasey Ward; Brothers, Ben, Ed, and David; Sisters, Mary, Louisa, Bertie, Martha, Pearl, Elizabeth, and Bell. Emma is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Dr Frank (Jamie) Epperson of Knoxville, Tennessee and Mark (Carolyn) Epperson of Spring Hill, Florida; granddaughter, Carmen Epperson of Arizona, several nieces and nephews, and a host of wonderful friends. The family will receive friends from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the Martin Wilson Chapel, LaFollette, Tennessee, with the funeral service to follow. Board Chairman, Tom Metcalf of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Halls, Tennessee will officiate. There will be a brief burial service Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Grantsboro Pond Cemetery with Dr. Frank Epperson officiating. Georgia Bruce

Mrs. , age 82, of LaFollette passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011. She was a member of Stinking Creek Baptist Church and cared deeply for her church family. She took joy in sewing, quilting, gardening, and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by husband, Willie (Blue) Bruce; grandson, Christopher Garrett Johnson, son-in-law, Ralph Reynolds, parents, Lewis and Ada Stephens, two sisters, Anna Mae Dee and Myrleen Johnson, two brothers, Kenneth and Ernest Stephens.

Survivors: Children, Reva Trusty and husband, Roger of East Point, KY, Jackie Reynolds of Pioneer, TN, Geraldean Ayers and husband, Jerome of Cincinnati, OH, Sharon Johnson and husband, Bobby of Jacksboro, TN, and Ronnie Bruce and wife, Judy of Canton, GA; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister, Paulette Metzger and husband, Josef of Morton Grove, IL. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Monday, September 19, 2011, 8 P.M. at Walters Chapel with Rev. Donald Shown and Rev. Delmus Bruce officiating. Hubert B. Jackson, Jr

Mr. Hubert B. Jackson, Jr. age 76 of Franklin, TN (formerly of LaFollette, TN) died peacefully on Saturday, September 17, 2011. He was a Retired Certified Financial Examiner having served in many capacities and duty stations with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. He also served as Vice President-Examinations with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati. He was a military veteran having served three years in the U.S. Army Finance Corp. He attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Finance. He was a member of the University’s Benefactor’s Society, and a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church of Franklin. He was preceded in death by his son, Hubert B. Jackson, III and parents, Hubert B. Jackson and Beatrice Russell Jackson of LaFollette, Tennessee.

He is survived by wife, Wanda Davis Jackson of Franklin, Tennessee; grandson, Hubert B. Jackson, IV of Milan, Indiana; granddaughter, Rebecca Ann Jackson of Indianapolis, Indiana.

There will be a short gathering of family and friends at Walters Funeral Home in LaFollette, Tennessee on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
