Adrion W. Baird

Mr. Adrion W. Baird age 78 of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at his home. He served 12 years as a Campbell County Commissioner, was an educator, historian, and an author of the book, “My Long Journey Home”. He attended Old Pathway Gospel Church. He loved farming, raising bees, and his apple and peach orchards. Preceded in death by parents, Aaron and Phoebe Hatmaker Baird, Brothers, Virgil and Nathan Baird, Sisters, Louise Bryant and Sophie Baird.

Survivors: Wife, Marylene Baird of LaFollette; Daughter, Melissa Beyer and husband Luis, of Maryland, and Connie Greiner and husband Tom, of LaFollette; Grandchildren, Amy Beyer, Sarah Beyer, and Peter Beyer, all of Maryland, Billy Greiner, and Matthew Greiner, of LaFollette; Brothers, Chester Baird and wife Dorothy, of Idaho, Roy Baird and wife Darla, of LaFollette, and Nolan Baird of LaFollette; Sisters, Edna Chambers of LaFollette, Mary Ann O’Donnell and husband Joe, of Washington State; Sisters-in-law, Micheline Baird of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Thelma Baird of Washington State. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Friday 11 A.M. at Old Pathway Gospel Church with Rev. James Leach officiating. Interment to follow at Valley View Cemetery in Pioneer with Military Honors conducted by the Campbell County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Mr. James L. “Jimmy” Thacker

Mr. James L. “Jimmy” Thacker age 61 of LaFollette passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a truck driver, a member of Coolidge First Baptist Church, and was an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his father, J.L. Thacker.

Survivors: Wife, Mrs. Sandra Thacker of LaFollette; Son, James Thacker III of LaFollette; Daughter, Carol Key and husband Jason, of LaFollette, and Angie Kirkland and husband Mike, of Knoxville; Grandchildren, Laura Key and Nathan Key, both of LaFollette, and Taylor Kirkland of Knoxville; Mother, Kleta Thacker of Prescott, AZ; Sister, Debra Thacker, of Prescott, AZ. Several other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Wednesday 8 P.M. at Coolidge First Baptist Church with Rev. Lynn Ray officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday 10 A.M. at Bakers Forge Cemetery for graveside services and interment. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday before services at the church. John Emerson Evans

John Emerson Evans, age 35, of LaFollette passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from a long battle with cancer.
Preceded in death by father, Clarance J. Evans; grandparents, Emerson and Elva Jones, Ethel Ford and Clifford Relford.

Arvel (Darb) Cross age 94, of Jacksboro, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 2, 2011. He was a lifelong member of Caryville First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by Parents Joe & Delora Newport Cross, Brothers Eli & Marion Cross and Sister Cloda McKamey. Member of The United Mine Workers of America, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 760, Campbell Co. Lodge # 778, and a 32nd degree Mason, member of Kerbella Temple in Knoxville and Campbell Co. Shrine Club.

Mr. Edward Eugene (Eddie Gene) Grisham

Mr. Edward Eugene (Eddie Gene) Grisham age 71 of Barbourville, Kentucky, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011. He was an auxiliary policeman with the Houma, Louisiana Police Department. Preceded in death by parents, William and Jane Nelson Grisham, brothers, Lonnie Grisham and Gene Grisham, sister, Helen Burgin, and two infant siblings.

Survivors: Children, Edward Eugene Grisham Jr. and wife Marichu, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Debra Grisham Law and husband James, Karen Grisham Kirby and husband Tony, all of Harrison, Ohio, Douglas Grisham and wife Spring, of Spokane, Washington, Lesley Grisham Mills of Barbourville, Kentucky. Twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Several other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Sunday 3 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Medlock officiating. Interment to follow at Cumberland View Cemetery.
