Robert Smith

Robert Smith, age 68, of Caryville passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at his home. Member of Caryville First Baptist Church and long time employee of Nance Gulf in Jacksboro. Preceded in death by parents, George W. and Leoda Smith; sisters, Opal Muse and Wilma Finley; brother, Billy Ray Smith.

Nettie Honeycutt Hill

Nettie Honeycutt Hill, age 78, of LaFollette went to be with Jesus on April 9, 2011.
Nettie was employed by Balloff’s Clothing Stores and the Balloff Family for nearly forty years. She was a member of Mountain View Independence Baptist Church (formerly LaFollette Baptist Temple) and taught Sunday School there for many years. She was an avid walker and covered many a mile in her 78 years. She loved to garden in her spaire time and was a huge Lady Vols Fan.
Preceded in death by husband, Edward D. Hill; parents, Shirley and Edna Dossett Honeycutt; brother, Shirley Honeycutt Jr.; sisters, Betty Brown and Dorothy Millette.

Nettie donated her body to the University of Tennessee so that they could study the thing that took her from this life with the hope of helping others. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

It is asked that in lieu of any cards or flowers, that donations be made to the Campbell County Cancer Association who provided much assistance to her in her battle with cancer. Cross-Smith Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.

Mrs. America Scott age 89 of LaFollette, TN passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 at Cumberland Village Care and Rehabilitation Center in LaFollette. She was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church, and a retired Postmaster. Preceded in death by her parents, Park L. & Bertha Howard Taylor, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors: Husband of 27 years, Clifford Scott of LaFollette; Son, Tim Dash and wife Loretta, of Pathfork, KY; Daughter, Peggy Scott and husband Calvin of LaFollette; Two grandsons, John Dash of Chattanooga, TN, and Regan Dash of Kingston, TN; Two Great-granddaughters, Kira Dash and Stacy Dash, both of LaFollette; One Sister, Ruby Nielson of Greensboro, NC. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses, aides, and staff from Cumberland Village for their special care and love shown to Mrs. Scott.

Funeral Services Wednesday 8 P.M. at New Horizon Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Herron and Rev. Lynn Ray officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at New Horizon Baptist Church, and from 12 P.M. at 2 P.M. Thursday at Corbin Funeral Home in Corbin, KY, and proceed to Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, KY for graveside services and interment with Floyd Scott and Jim Scott officiating. Adrion W. Baird

Mr. Adrion W. Baird age 78 of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at his home. He served 12 years as a Campbell County Commissioner, was an educator, historian, and an author of the book, “My Long Journey Home”. He attended Old Pathway Gospel Church. He loved farming, raising bees, and his apple and peach orchards. Preceded in death by parents, Aaron and Phoebe Hatmaker Baird, Brothers, Virgil and Nathan Baird, Sisters, Louise Bryant and Sophie Baird.
