Jacqueline “Jackie” “TaTa” Ellison

Jacqueline “Jackie” “TaTa” Ellison, age 44 of LaFollette passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. She was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors: Husband, Scott Ellison of LaFollette; Daughter, Krystal Camacho of LaFollette; Grandson, Tyson Camacho of LaFollette; Parents, Humberto Perez and Reina Morales, Canovanas, Puerto Rico; Two Sisters, Caroline Delgado of Canovanas, Puerto Rico, and Judy Perez of Bayaman, Puerto Rico; Brother, Humberto Perez, Jr. of Canovanas, Puerto Rico; Parents-in-law, David and Anita Ellison, of LaFollette; Nieces, Macy Ellison of LaFollette, Leilaniz Perez, and Karla Delgado, of Puerto Rico; Nephews, Luis Perez, Johnathan Delgado, Pascual Delgado, Jr., John Perez, Yahett Perez, Yanceo Perez, and Benoni Perez all of Puerto Rico; Brother-in-law, Pascual Pacheco and Hector Santos both of Puerto Rico and Darren Ellison of LaFollette.

Funeral services Friday 8 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel. Committal services Monday, March 28, 2011, 9:30 A.M., at TN State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville, TN. John Quentin Sowder

John Quentin Sowder, age 90, of Nashville, formerly of LaFollette passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was born in White Oak, TN and moved to the Sowder Farm in 1927. He graduated from LaFollette High School and attended Lincoln Memorial University until his Father’s death in 1939. He taught school for many years at Valley View School. He worked on the family farm located on Old Highway 63 for a number of years. He had several jobs in banking, including the Peoples National Bank, First Federal Savings and Loan, and City and County Bank. He served as the Campbell County Judge from 1958-1966. Quentin taught Sunday School at Fincastle Methodist Church and he served as an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church. Quentin was also a Mason. His avid love of sports included fishing, hunting, softball, and golf. In 1993, he moved to Nashville to be near his grandchildren. Quentin was a soft-spoken, kind, caring and compassionate man.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Shoun Sowder

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 26th at 2 PM at the Fincastle United Methodist Church. Reverend David Maude will be in charge of the service.

Christopher Lynn Wright, age 36, of LaFollette passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center – St. Mary’s. Church of God faith. Preceded in death by father, Sherman Lynn Wright.

Joyce A. Powers

Mrs. Joyce A. Powers, age 44 of Pioneer, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at her home. She was preceded in death parents, Harold and Earlene Archer Bell and sister, Charie Chrismon.

Survivors: Husband, James Powers; son, Derek Powers both of Pioneer; sisters, Rene’ Freeman and husband, Dennis; brothers, Danny Bell, Randy Bell and David Bell all of LaFollette; father-in-law, Gene Powers of Pioneer. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Monday, March 21, 2011, at 1 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Walls officiating. Interment to follow at Broyles Cemetery. Bernis Howell Varner

Bernis Howell Varner, age 74, of Jacksboro went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ, Thursday, March 10, 2011. He was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church and was previously a member of Oakley Baptist Church, Asheville, NC. He is a 1955 graduate of Lee Edward’s High School and spent many years employed by Coke-a-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Sealtest Dairies, and Kraft General Foods, Breyers Frozen Products Division in Asheville, NC & Greenville, SC. He was affectionately known as “Popsicle.” His life was a living testimony to his never ending faith in Jesus Christ, his love for his family and friends, and his wonderful sense of humor and laughter. Preceded in death by parents, Lorenzo Dow & Clara Mae Varner; brothers, Bill, James, & L.D. Varner; sisters, Ruth & Alice; son, Brian Kevin Varner.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Wells Varner, Jacksboro
