Cougar Fishing To Complete In Nationals/World Championships

Cougar fishing keeps ascending to new heights. Scholarships pile up, prize money comes in and championships seem to circulate around the program. Now two Cougar boats will be competing in Nationals/World Championships beginning today.

Student anglers will compete for a share of the record $2.7 million prize purse offered at the 10th Annual High School Fishing World Finals and National Championship dual event June 19-22 on Pickwick Lake in Florence, Ala.

Boat 187 will feature Cougars Austin Smith and Riley Faulkner while boat 211 will see Dalton King and Jarrett Ellison trying to snag lips and bring home huge bass for the 3:45 day one weigh-in.

All teams will complete the 19th and 20th, the top weights from those two days will move on to Friday. Weights will be reset then and more anglers will be pared down after Friday’s weigh-in. On Saturday only the top 31 young anglers in the world will compete for the World Championship.

Good luck to the Cougar anglers as they try to become the best in the world.
