On May 6, 2020, the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals issued an opinion affirming the convictions and sentence of Marty Lynn Ray. Ray had previously been convicted by a Campbell County jury of four counts of rape of a child, a class A felony, and sentenced to an effective ninety years in prison by Criminal Court Judge E. Shayne Sexton. This case was investigated and prosecuted by Ricky Jeffers of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office. The Campbell County Children’s Center and Department of Children’s Services were also an integral part of the investigation and trial. At trial, the state was represented by Assistant District Attorney General Lindsey Cadle.
