Haley Comer

The Lady Cougars had not played an actual basketball game in over two weeks. They were going up against long time regional power the Lady Falcons of Fulton. The odds seemed to be stacked against the Lady Cougars when they traveled to Maryville for their post Christmas tournament. But in spite of all of this the Lady Cougars did what they do best, win.

The Lady Falcons took an early lead and looked to be cruising to an easy victory over what should have been a rusty Lady Cougar squad. In fact the Lady Falcons had a 12 point lead as the third quarter waned. But there was not an ounce of quit in the Lady Cougars. Enter Haley Comer. The junior played shut down defense in the last several minutes of the game. In the final quarter Skylar Boshears stepped up to the free throw line and hit a pair of shots to tie the game. As time ran out Blair Medley passed the ball off to Comer and she launched a prayer from beyond the three point arc. It was answered as it fell through the net and gave the Lady Cougars a 51-48 win.

Boshears lead the Lady Cougars in scoring with 16 points. Madison Brady was right behind her with 15. In addition to hitting the game winner Comer 13 points on the evening. Emily Ellison had 5 points and Lexie Richardson had 2 points to round out the scoring.
