On October 27TH 2018, Deputy Raymond Surber and Deputy Zack Daugherty observed a white 2017 Nissan Altima traveling south bound on Interstate 75 traveling 93 mph exceeding the posted speed limit 65 mph. Deputy Surber and Deputy Daugherty conducted a traffic stop on the white Nissan Altima at the 151 mile marker on Interstate 75. Deputy Daugherty approached the vehicle and made contact with driver, Veronica Adkisson (25) from Knoxville, Tennessee. During his approach Deputy Daugherty smelled an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Ms. Adkisson told both deputies that she had, “Personal use marijuana in the glove box.”, and more in her purse. Deputy Surber and Deputy Daugherty continued their investigation, finding drug paraphernalia and prescription medication. Deputy Surber and Deputy Daugherty open the trunk of the vehicle observed two large blue plastic containers, when they removed the lids they found 1,011 clear glass tubes containing cigars that were filled with marijuana. Veronica Adkisson was arrested and charged with: Speeding, Felony Possession of Marijuana for resale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
