During the torrential downpours that hammered East Tennessee over the weekend a tragedy occurred in Chattanooga. Police Officer Nicholas Galinger was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 2900 block of Hamill Road at 11:00 pm.
He was checking a manhole cover that had water overflowing from it when he was struck. Officer Galinger was transported to a local hospital where he died a short time later.
Now this fallen officer is being transported home to his native Ohio. The route will travel through our home in Campbell County via I-75. Though the exact time is not know Officer Galinger is likely to be passing through our section of the interstate before noon.
According to Josh Vann the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department will join this escort as it passes through the final leg of its East Tennessee journey.
