Sadie Cox

Eagle Golf continues to dominate the middle school golf team. This time it was the Regional Tournament at Three Ridges Golf Course in Knox County. These were the best golf teams from surrounding districts. This did not matter to the boys in the Blue and Gold. They won the tournament by a dominating 35 strokes. In addition to team domination Jack Leach finished 2nd out of all golfers there and teammate David Bates was right on his heels at third. With this win the entire Eagle Golf Team will represent Jacksboro Middle School in the State Middle School Golf Tournament this coming Monday at Maryville’s Green Meadow Country Club. This will be the most daunting task to date for the Eagles as this is a private club and it is tough to even get a practice round there.

On the girl’s side the Lady Eagles missed out on a team berth in the state by a few strokes. This does not mean that the ladies from Jacksboro Middle will not be represented though. Sadie Cox had a standout day on the links and finished 2nd overall in the tournament. This earns her an individual spot in the final tournament of the season.

This state tournament will be the culmination of an epic three year journey for the 8th graders on the team. They are undefeated in regular season play for their careers, including a 17-0 record this season. They also dominated district play to earn the regional berth. It would appear that golf in Campbell County is going to be in good hands on the high school level for years to come.
