It would appear the torch is being passed in local middle school football. For many years the Oneida Indians were a steamroller that flattened any team that lined up across from them. In fact there was a five year period where their only regular season loss was to the Eagles of Jacksboro as they won TMSAA East Tennessee Middle School 3A title multiple times. A population shift dropped them to the 2A level a couple of years back but they still were basically the dominant middle school team in the area.

Last year the Jacksboro Eagles defeated them on their way to a perfect season and TMSAA 3A title. Last Thursday the Eagles traveled to Oneida for the 2018 version of their rivalry. This time the Eagles once again came away with a victory by a score of 38-26. This is also the first time in recent memory that any team has beaten the mighty Indian program in back to back years.

The Eagles are currently riding a 14 game winning dating back to last year. They will travel to play Lake City this week before returning home for the 2018 Egg Bowl against the LaFollette Owls.
