A Knoxville man, who was working as a recruiter for the Tennessee Army National Guard has been indicted on charges that he had sexual contact with a trio of juvenile females in Claiborne County. Matthew Franklin, 32 years of age, six counts of Statutory Rape by an Authority Figure following a months long investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the New Tazewell Police Department.
Back in September 8th District Attorney General Jared Effler requested the TBI join the investigation after the allegations of the inappropriate acts surfaced. The investigation determined that Franklin had sexual contact. three juvenile females between March 2018 and September 2019. During this time he was employed by Tennessee Army National Guard as a recruiter. The Tennessee Army National Guard terminated his employment with them after the allegations surfaced.
Following the indictment Franklin was booked into the Claiborne County Jail Thursday on a $25,000 bond.
