Ollivander brought his wand shop to Caryville to make sure aspiring young wizards were paired with the proper wand

Twenty years ago British author JK Rowling published Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (also known as Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone in the United States) introducing us to a magical realm now known as The Wizarding World. The book became a cultural phenomenon spawning multiple other novels, movies, and theatrical productions set in the Wizarding World.

The Caryville Municipal Building was transformed into Diagon Alley and Hogwarts itself as Librarian Logan Birdsong and friends put on a Harry Potter birthday celebration for library patrons of all ages. Over 75 people young and old alike came out to enjoy the event. Balloon owls, wand shopping, face painting, and magical refreshments were served. Outside wizard duels and games of Quiddich ruled the day.

Not only was this a chance to celebrate Harry Potter, of which the library offers a full array of novels, audio books, and DVDs, but it was also a way to get folks into the library. Caryville library offers a variety of services to the public. It is currently open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM until 6 PM.
