“I love Coach Brad, he’s been a very successful coach for our team and I know he has to be doing something right to reach this accomplishment, I’m very proud to play under him,” said Lady Cougar junior Macy Monday when asked about Tuesday night’s milestone win for the her head coach.

Brad Honeycutt took over the team in 2014. He hit the ground running with the already highly successful program. Honeycutt has been named coach of the year in the district, he has had multiple players go on to play at the next level, and has always led his Lady Cougars to winning seasons. Now he has notched the milestone of his 100th win as the skipper of the Lady Cougars in a blowout win over non district foe the Lady Hornets of Carter by a score of 71-33. It was victory number 20 for the Lady Cougars this season which comes on the heels of their cracking the Associated Press Top 10 for Lady’s AAA basketball in the state of Tennessee.

It was not just fans and current players who were proud of Coach Honeycutt’s big win. Sarah Cain, Lady Cougar alumni and now a member of the Lady Lions of Bryan College weighed in on her high school coach’s big win saying, “I’m super proud of Coach Honeycutt for getting to this milestone! I was just a sophomore, but I can remember the first day of practice. I could tell he was the type of coach who wanted to win… a lot. He was full of energy and passion for the game. The example he set for us off the court just shows the kind of guy he is. He loves the Lord, and if you’ve ever talked to coach it shows. Coach was so encouraging, helpful, and he didn’t care to crack a joke with you every now and then. He’s a phenomenal coach and person. I’m proud to have been apart of that first group he coached at CCHS. Congrats Coach!”

This big win comes with seven games remaining in the regular season and the post season tournament fast approaching. The Lady Cougars are poised to take a run deep into the post season and have a chance of returning to the TSSAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro for the first time since 1991.

With a very experienced group of seniors and a great underclassman roster the team has a good shot at making it there. Senior leader and Furman signee Skylar Boshears was also delighted with her coach’s hitting the century mark in the win column. “I am extremely happy for Coach! He puts in so much time and I appreciate his effort and just everything he does for this team! Very well deserved accomplishment for Coach Honeycutt!” proclaimed Boshears.

The Lady Cougars return to action Friday night in the friendly home confines of the John RW Brown Gymnasium as they take on district foe the Lady Dragons of Clinton.
