As seen on The Volunteer Times live broadcast yesterday evening, the final football game of the middle school season played out yesterday at L. Hope Dossett Stadium.

The Lake City Lakers took home the title 42-20. Both offenses managed to move the ball up and down the field on the evening. The Lakers separated themselves by forcing multiple Eagle turnovers in the game, one of which they returned 78 yards to set up a touchdown.

Jacksboro had defeated the Lakers earlier in 2020 but the Lakers improved greatly as the season wore on, they defeated #1 seed and regular season league champion Horace Maynard last week.

The Eagles had a very good season in their run to the championship game. Quarterback Landen Hensley had a dynamic season that saw him set the single season touchdown record for the Eagles. Big Christian Kennedy from Jacksboro was named defensive player of the game. Eagles head coach Cody Parker was named coach of the year in the Eastern division.

This was the final game played on grass in L. Hope Dossett Stadium. Next year the field turf that is almost universal at the high school level in East Tennessee will finally be installed at CCHS.
