The county’s 5th graders converged on Jim and Linda Agee Gymnasium for the county health fair

Johnny Bruce can only smile when he looks at the mass of 5th graders moving from station to station in the Jim and Linda Agee Gymnasium at Jacksboro Middle School. Nearly 400 students, the 5th grade class from every elementary school in the county, move among the 18 stations at the second annual event.

The Campbell County Health Fair educates students on a variety of health related topics. Topics included yoga, nutrition, an anti tobacco message, an anti drug message, and various other health related topics. The 18 stations were manned by volunteers from groups such as Generation Rx, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, the Campbell County Ambulance Service/Emergency Management Agency and many others.

Bruce says the goal is to get each student in and educated about these issues as they prepare to transition from elementary school to middle school. The event has grown this year and Bruce hopes the third annual event will be even bigger.
