At approximately 8am this morning, Detectives with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at 1883 Old Jacksboro Pike Lafollette, Tennessee. Home and business of Joe Ted Kitts age 35. Investigators made several buys of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) from this location over the past month. Campbell County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team was activated to secure the location during the execution of the warrant.

When the sheriff’s office special weapons and tactics team attempted to make entry, they quickly realized that Mr. Kitts had barricaded the entrance to the location, allowing him to evade them. A foot pursuit began and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was deployed to track down Mr. Kitts. Two hours later Corporal Travis Bostic and his K-9 partner Santo caught up with Mr. Kitts in the West Walden Street area of LaFollette. Mr. Kitts was taken into custody without incident.

Sheriff Goins expedited the execution of the warrant due to the close proximity to several residences in the area. Sheriff Goins- states “Meth or any other type of illegal drug being sold will not be tolerated period. Especially by those who are repeat offenders.”

Investigators found large quantities of narcotics evidence at the location. Mr. Kitts is currently in custody on failure to appear warrant and evading arrest charge. This is an ongoing investigation, which will be presented to the grand jury at a later time.

Over the past summer Kitts and other suspects were arrested by officers with the LaFollette Police Department at Kitts Tires in conjunction with a felony theft warrant.
