Whether a school shooting or another meth lab uncovered, from one extreme or another, it seems as if Campbell County always has more than its share of bad press. Later this month locals from the area are excited about and preparing for something positive to finally report about. Lifepoint Church, a Clinton based church with a relatively new extension campus in LaFollette is hosting a rather unique event at the CCHS gymnasium that some say is “definitely needed and about time”.
On Friday, February 24th from 9pm -7am Lifepoint Church Youth Ministries will host its first annual “Lifepoint Lockup”. The church will host over 1400 high school students who wish to participate along with 8th graders from the areas two middle schools for a night of bands, fun, games and ministry. The Campbell County Sheriff’s Dept is assisting with the event along with the City of LaFollette, Jacksboro and Caryville Police Departments.
Knoxville’s own Barney Fife and a host of other speakers, bands and entertainers. The church will be confronting issues at Campbell County High School such as teen pregnancy, bullying, drugs, alcohol, teen suicide, abuse and self esteem. Combining this with a dose of faith should be a mixture for a brighter tomorrow for the Campbell County area.
