Two local athletes have reached the pinnacle of their sport. Tristen Hinojos of Jacksboro and Ashlyn Mckinney of Lafollette will be competing with their All Star Competitive Cheerleading Team, the Venom Sharks, at the prestigious event known by every cheerleader as the 2019 Cheerleading World Championships at the ESPN Center in Orlando, Florida, April 27-28. This international event brings together more than 11,000 athletes to vie for world champion titles in senior and international club divisions and categories. Teams must obtain a bid from one of more than 40 Worlds bid competitions around the United States and the world to compete. The Venom Sharks from the Premier Athletics Knoxville North Gym earned their bid to Worlds by defeating several past Worlds champions at the recent One Up Cheerleading Championships in Nashville, TN.
