More and more potential candidates have picked up petitions to run for the various races this election cycle.
Former LaFollette Police Chief and current LaFollette City Administrator Jimmy Jeffries has picked up a petition to run against current Sheriff Robbie Goins.
For the first time in a few elections Monty Bullock will have a challenger as well. Paul Pierce has picked up a petition to run for Trustee.
Todd Nance and incumbent Alene Baird remain the only two so far in the County Court Clerk race.
The County Mayor race has gotten hot as incumbent E.L. Morton faces challenges from Jack Lynch, who also ran last election, Chief Deputy Aaron Evans, former commissioner Mike Freeman and local businessman Brian Younce.
The Register of Deeds race has the most potential candidates as incumbent Dormas Miller is retiring. Greg Cross, Beverly Hall, Ron McClellen, Tom Hatmaker, David Griffith, Johnny Vanover, Ronnie Huckaby, June Turner, and Patrick Silcox have all picked up petitions for that race.
Incumbemt Bobby Vann is the lone candidate that has picked up a petition for Circuit Court Clerk.
The County Commission race has a number of candidates in the First District incumbents Whit Goins and Robert Higginbotham have picked up pettions. They will be challenged by Keith Goins,Harley Hill, Wallace Goins and Ronnie Bostic.
In the Second District commission race Incumbents Clifford Kohlmeyer, Dewayne Kitts and Lonnie Weldon have all picked up petitions. Scotty Kitts has also picked up a petition to enter the race.
Incumbents Scott Stanfield and Rusty Orick have both picked up petitions for the Third District Race. They will be joined by Danny Sheckles, Joshua Parks and Tom Campbell.
In the Fourth District only the incumbents Johnny Bruce, Charles Baird and Sue Nance have expressed interest in running so far.
The Fifth District has incumbents Forster Baird and Ralph Davis being challenged by Tyler King, Stevie Rutherford and Terry Singly vying for the seats.
The school board also has multiple candidates seeking the available seats.
The First District is especially heated as incumbent Wallace Goins is being challenged by John Minor, Jeffery Miller Jr, and Marvin Rutherford.
Josh James has picked up a petition to challenge Second District incumbent Sharon Ridenour.
Incumbent Faye Heatherly is currently the only candidate in the Third District.
Ronnie Lasley has picked up a petition to compete with Clint Bane for the Fourth District seat.
Incumbent Crystal Creekmore is the only candidate currently in the Fifth District race.
Multiple candidates are seeking the seat of constable over the five districts. Elias Adcock, Sam Ivey and Kenneth Newsome are seeking the First District position. Larry Ford and Samuel Patton are seeking the office in the Second Distirct. Johnny Jones and Dewey Madison are currently unchallenged in the Third and Fourth Districts.
