The Tennessee Sports Writer’s Association All-State team has been published. Campbell County’s Shawn Marcum made the list on the 5-A team as a wide receiver. The speedy wide out was the favored target of Cougar Quarterback Zach Rutherford and helped the Cougars to a 7 win season and a trip to the playoffs during the 2017 season. Marcum was the only offensive player from the Cougars district to make the TSWA 5-A All-State team on the offensive side of the ball.

Along the way Marcum set his share of records for the Cougars this year. During the Cougars remarkable come from behind win over the Clinton Dragons Marcum broke Joseph Elkins, who was All-State himself, receptions in a single season record. The next week against Knox West Marcum broke former Cougar receiver and coach Josh James single season receiving yards record.
