On May 22nd County Mayor E.L. Morton introduced Emergency Order 8. This order gives Mayor Morton the ability to make certain expenditures while waiving the normal procedures he would have to go through. This allows money to be spent to perform certain public works and to take prudent action to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the county.

It also takes into account and allows the county to request reimbursement from the state on certain expenditures the county has made in response to the COVID 19 pandemic. Some of these expenditures include hiring addition medical staff at the county jail and courthouse, 100 COVID 19 test to be administered to the homeless of the county, creating an improved county website, enable rapid use of volunteers during emergencies, modifications to the courthouse to reduce likelihood of COVID 19 transmission, and supporting COVID 19 clinics in the county.
