Jacksboro and LaFollette Middle Schools traveled to Daniel Boone High School to try to earn berth’s in next week’s state meet at Austin Peay University in Clarksville. Several local athletes made the cut and will indeed be traveling to Middle Tennessee for a shot at the titles.
LaFollette’s Lady Owls had an impressive finish as they placed second out of 15 teams. The Lady Eagles of Jacksboro had almost as impressive of a finish at 4th place.
On the boy’s side of things the Eagle’s finished 5th and the Owls finished 9th.
Jacksboro Middle School’s Lady Eagles team had several qualifiers. Jolene Phillips finished 3rd in the 100m. Leah Sanders was 3rd in the 200m. Audrey Bishop was 1st in the 400m. The 4×100 relay team finished 2nd and the 4×200 took first in the event.
The Eagles’s also had multiple qualifiers. Aaron Ellison finished 3rd in the 100m. Riley Faulkner qualified in both the 800m and 1600m with third place finishes in both events. Peyton Ferguson was 3rd in the 110m hurdles. Desmond Gilbert was 3rd in the shot put. The 4×400 relay team also qualified.
The Lady Owls had a dominating day. Bailey Gillum was 3rd in the 400m. Macy Caldwell was a 1st place finisher in both the 800m and 1600m. Haylynn Willis was second in the high jump. Erica Brock finished 2nd in the shot put and 3rd in the discus. The 4×400 team also qualified.
The Owl’s Josh Phillips was 3rd in the 400m.
These athletes will compete for the state titles on May 19th.
