Sunday a series of event occurred in Cincinatti that ended up in a crash on I-75 at Caryville’s 134 Exit. A man, who was later identified as 39 year old Stephen George Williams is alleged to have been holding his mother at gunpoint for the duration of the pursuit.
The chase began in Kentucky right across the Ohio border after 911 reports of shots being fired at other vehicles from the truck Williams was driving on the interstate. Several law enforcement agencies got involved with the chase as it head south down I-75. The pursuit came to an end in Caryville when the truck collided with an 18 wheeler.
Williams, who was later identified as a soldier in the United States Army, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm while DUI, failure to maintain lane, not carrying registration, following too closely, failure to give signal, texting while driving, aggravated reckless endangerment, aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, drivers to exercise due care, violation of the Tennessee financial law, seat belt law, reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, driving under the influence (DUI) and speeding. He is also facing numerous charges in Kentucky and Ohio. He is currently housed in the Campbell County Jail.
His mother was transported to Tennova Medical Center in LaFollette.
