Elijah Phillips has been a stalwart of Cougar athletics the last several years. He is a multi sport star that shines both on the gridiron and on the basketball court. He recently signed with the University of the Cumberlands to continue his athletic career on the football field as a Patriot.
During basketball season the Cougar big man was often dominant. He could always be counted on to clean up the rebounds and put points on the board. This year he had multiple double-doubles and had multiple 20+ point games. It turns out all of this scoring pushed him into a special club.
As he was tallying up season and career stats Voice of the Cougars and basketball sports information directo Josh Parker realized that in the final game against Knox Central, in the district tournament at Halls, Phillips eclipsed the 1,000 point milestone. Parker stated that Phillips finished his Cougar basketball career with an impressive 1,003 points.
Phillips joins teammate Evan Jackson and Lady Cougar Skylar Boshears as Cougar basketballers to join the exclusive 1,000 point club this season. It is safe to say that Cougar basketball fans will miss this big man next season.
