We are back rasslin fans. This week we are still building the perfect indy promotion. Part 2 will focus on five tag teams and five occasional workers I would use. Occasional workers are the ones that travel to much to make every show but would bring a great deal of talent and work rate when they were available.
Let’s start with the tag teams. These are five groups of folks that bring it every time they step in the squared circle.
The Death Row Inmates – My favorite team I ever worked with. Jason and Willie are monsters in the ring. They have one of the best sets of double team maneuvers of any team I have seen since the Midnight Express. No tag team division would be complete without them.
The Forsaken Angels Guild – Another team I love to work with. They are colorful and talented. They are the team the fans love to hate. I only got to work with them for a brief time but that time produced some of my favorite moments.
Chris and Mike Powers – They are they meanest team I know. I have taken more beating at the hands of Mike Powers than anyone in the rasslin business, well anyone except Chris Powers. Plus you put them with Deke and Jody Rivers and you have a faction that will control most of the promotion’s gold.
The Interns – True masked superstars. Though they were mostly my competition as they worked for the UWA during the SECW days they are true crowd pleasers. Tons of rasslin ability and they can incite riots when they get the microphone.
Big Luke Walker and Superstar Eric Charles – A Chicago connection. Big Luke is a dominating monster. Eric is a sneaky tactician. They have experience all over the Midwest and Southeast.
Now the part time talent. When I say this it is actually a compliment. Most of these folks wrestle all over the region and occasionally country.
Stunning Shawn Shultz – The Modern Day Viking. He is one of the biggest wrestling success stories from East Tennessee. He has wrestled almost everywhere, including TNA. I actually count Shawn as one of my inspirations. He is actually living the dream of being a full time rassler. He does it because he is a true total package. He has good looks, great skills, and is boss on the microphone.
Violet Adams – The best woman rassler I have ever worked with. She is only part time because it is nearly impossible to find another woman on her talent level to work her with. I honestly would consider having her work with the men just to use her all the time.
David Young – Campbell County’s own wrestling superstar. He is a former NWA world tag team champion and has been all over the globe. When you play WWE wrestling games you are playing as him and you don’t even know it as he has done much of their motion capture. He is the most famous person I have actually worked with more than once.
Jimmy Golden – Any time I have needed a star he has been my go to guy. He was a staple of my rasslin viewing growing up. He is also a former WCW World Television Champion. He has recently made some WWE appearances. He is always a pleasure to work with.
Smokey Steele – Smokey will tell you he is retired. I will tell you there is no such thing in rasslin. I know I could never talk him into getting back in the ring full time. But there is no way I would do a promotion without getting him in the ring on occasion.
Next week we wrap up with out of ring personalities and five one time performers.
