Lexy Richardson is the epitome of multisport athlete. She rarely even gets downtime as she transitions from volleyball to basketball and then to softball. Last week she committed to a different kind of transition, one of from high school athletics to college athletics. The talented senior will be taking her volleyball skills to Dayton, Tennessee where she will be a Bryan Lion.
When asked about her decision to go to Bryan Richardson spoke very highly of her chosen school and teammates. She said, “I went there to tour the school and practice with the team I absolutely fell in love with that school. I felt safe while I was there, everything was all right together, and I just felt a warm environment while I was there. Everyone was so friendly.”
She plans to major in kinesiology. Kinesiology is the scientific study of human or non-human body movement. Kinesiology addresses physiological, biomechanical, and psychological dynamic principles and mechanisms of movement. Applications of kinesiology to human health including biomechanics and orthopedics; strength and conditioning; sport psychology; methods of rehabilitation, such as physical and occupational therapy; and sport and exercise. Studies of human and animal motion include measures from motion tracking systems, electrophysiology of muscle and brain activity, various methods for monitoring physiological function, and other behavioral and cognitive research techniques.
On her chances of playing early she said, ” I don’t know much about that. That’s up to the coach and how much work and effort I put in while I’m there.”
Richardson will not be the only former Lady Cougar on the Bryan Volleyball team. Anna Cain had already committed to the school and this dynamic duo will be taking their hard hitting game to the next level as teammates once again.
