After a triumphant return to the diamond last weekend in Maryville the Tennessee Savage Elite were at it again. This time they traveled to upper East Tennessee to compete in the Kingsport East Tennessee Global State Tournament.

Tennessee Savage Elite began pool play against the Stateliners out of Bristol, TN. The first couple of innings started rocky for the Savage Elite as they were held scoreless the first two innings and allowed 4 runs in bottom of first. The top of 3rd saw the Savage Elite come to life as they tied it up 4-4 in the 3rd. Seven straight runs in top of 4th put the Savage Elite on top 11-4. The Savage Elite shut down the Stateliners in bottom of 4th and the game was called as the time limit expired. The Savage Elite picked up the victory 11-4.

They then battled Rebels from Colonial Heights, Tennessee. Defense was the name of the game in the first inning as the Savage Elite shut down the Rebels with three straight outs. The Savage Elite transitioned well into their offense scoring 4 runs in bottom half of the first inning. The defense remained strong in the second inning as they did not allow a run.Bentley Freeman made an impressive diving catch close to the opposing teams dugout on the 3rd baseline for a highlight in the inning. The Savage Elire came back out and scored 4 more runs to go up 8-0. Top of 3rd the Rebels scored 2 runs to make it 8-2 then the Savage Elite answered as they scored 5 in bottom half to make it 13-2. In the 4th, Rebels scored 1 to make it 13-3 before the game was called for run rule. This sent the Savage Elite into the title game.

The championship game was a battle of ranked teams. The Tennessee Savage Elite (19-5) entering the game taking on the #3 ranked Kingsport Tribe (12-0) in the state. It was gut check time for both teams as this would cement one of the two teams in their high ranking.

The Savage Elite defense was still on fire, allowing only 1 run in top of first. In the bottom of first, lead off hitter Hayden Cansler from Sweetwater hit a bomb over the left centerfield fence to put us up 1-0. The Savage Elite went on to score 6 additional runs in bottom of first to make it 7-1. The Savage Elite defense was like glue nothing was getting by them or over them as they shut down The Tribe in top of 2nd. In the bottom of 2nd the Savage Elite scored 2 more to go up 9-1. The defense of the Savage Elite locked down The Tribe in top of 3rd. The Savage ELite then scored 4 runs in bottom of 3rd to make 13-1 and the game was called for run rule with the Savage Elite taking home the East Tennessee State Global Championship.

So far this year the Savage Elite has played a total of 4 tournaments and won 3 of them

Next up the Savage Elite will travel to Chattanooga for the Southern Showcase. Some of the best teams in the south will be at this event.
