In a brief special called meeting the Campbell County Board of Education approved the 2020-21 bus contract.

Section Three of the bus contract was the only item of discussion. It reads,”It is expressly agreed that at times the school system may face extraordinary events such as a public health crisis, natural disasters or any other emergency which may cause alterations to normal district operations, all 33 buses shall be used for alternate purposes as the director of schools deems necessary.”

When questioned about this Director of Schools Jennifer Fields explained that the current situation with the COVID 19 pandemic was ongoing and ever changing. She gave the example of using busses to transport internet hot spots to provide for students in the more rural areas of the county which lack high speed internet.

The Board then approved the contact by a unanimous vote of the members present, which constituted a quorum.
