Most people are still in basketball mode and not thinking of track yet. Carson Newman signee Christian Shouse, on the other hand, is already burning it up in the indoor track season. In fact he recently won a state title at the Music City High School Indoor Invitational hosted by Nashville’s Vanderbilt University. The pentathlon is five events that an athlete earns a combined score in. The events are high jump, long jump, 60 meter hurdles, 1,000 meter run and the shot put.

Shouse outperformed thirteen other athletes to earn a victory with a total of 3451 points. He won the long jump outright with a jump of 21’4.5″. Most impressively he not only won the high jump but set the meet record with a jump of 6’7″. He also took second in the shot put.

Cougar Drake Pyles also competed at the meet and finished 5th in shot put with a throw of 34’4″
