Austin Smith, along with his boat mate Riley Faulkner, has been dominating the high school fishing scene this season. Now his efforts have earned him a spot fishing in college.

Smith signed to be an Eagle Angler at Carson Newman on Tuesday. Smith said he chose the Jefferson City institution of higher learning because it felt like home.

Smith is looking to major in nursing.

Smith will be thrown into action right away. Unlike many sports their is no transition period and college anglers see the water right away.
