Though the 2019-20 basketball season is almost a year away there has been a big off season move in the Eagle’s Nest. Cody Parker stepped down as the head coach at Jacksboro Middle School to focus his efforts on his new position as head coach of the Eagle football team.

On Wednesday Jacksboro Middle School principal Gretchen Thomas announced that a familiar face would be taking over the position. Spenser St. John, a Cougar Basketball alumni and former Cougar Basketball assistant coach, will be taking over the reigns of the program. St. John is also head coach of a successful Eagle track program.

When asked about his new coaching job St. John said, “First of all I want to thank Ms. Thomas for giving me the chance to coach at JMS. I’ve been around the kids and program a lot the last few years and I’m excited to build upon the success that Coach Parker has built the last few seasons. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and know a lot of great coaches and I’m looking to forward to helping the kids as they move through the JMS program and move on to be future Cougars.”
