Another season on the diamond has dawned for the Tennessee Savage Elite. This all star team features 7 local athletes Bentley Freeman, Maddox Freeman, and Ryder Wallen. It also consists of young athletes from Knoxville, Chattanooga, Loudon, Sweetwater and Whitwell.

They traveled to Virginia for the Perfect Game Opening Day blast Tournament, competing in the 8 years of age and under division. The Tennessee Savage Elite absolutely dominated the tournament. In pool play they defeated the top rated AA team from Virginia, the Virginia Ice, 11-3. They met the Ice once bracket play began and once again won in a convincing fashion 11-1 to secure their place in the title game.

The title game saw them face another top ranked squad. This time it was Kentucky’s top team the East Kentucky Elite. The EKE had been on a hot streak scoring 57 run in three games while only giving up 10 runs. This all changed when they took the diamond to take on the young lads of the Tennessee Savage Elite. The Savage Elite sent EKE back to the Bluegrass State with a loss. The final score of the title game was 16-4.

Bentley Freeman picked up the tournament MVP award as well out of 70 athletes representing 6 teams. Freeman secured the honor by going 10 for 12 on the day with a pair of triples and 11 RBIs.

This is just the beginning of what looks to be another strong season for the Tennessee Savage Elite.
