On Sunday Deputy Dakota Williams was dispatched to 2445 Highway 116 in Caryville on response to an assault call. Upon arrival he interviewed a victim and a witness in relation to the reported assault. The victim stated that he picked up 22 year old Mary Trinidad, who is listed as homeless, from her job at KFC in Rocky Top. The report indicates that some time after returning to the residence that the victim went into a room with Trinidad where she began chocking the victim. The witness stated that they entered the room and screamed at Trinidad who stopped the alleged attack and left the residence.

Deputy Williams observed red marks on both sides of the victim’s neck. The victim refused any medical treatment. The witness told Deputy Williams that he heard screaming from the room when he entered it and observed Trinidad choking the victim.

When questioned about the incident Trinidad stated that this was a set up and that she had done nothing. Trinidad further stated that the witness had thrown a suitcase at her and struck her in the back. Trinidad had no observable injuries.

Trindad was arrested and transported to the Campbell County Jail. She is charged with Aggravated Assault.
