The football landscape is changing in Tennessee as the TSSAA has finished the reclassification by school population. The TSSAA will keep the six classifications each with 49 teams from across the state. Now we have an idea what the new regions will look like pending the official vote from the TSSAA Board of Control.
The Cougars will see many familiar and a new face. Lenoir City will be a new regional foe as Oak Ridge, Clinton, Powell and Karns will remain on schedule. This smaller region will require the Cougars to pick up some additional non region games.
The Blue Devils will see a bevy of new opponents as they will be in a region with Coalfield, Greenback, Harriman, Midway, Oakdale, Oliver Springs, and Sunbright.
Other regional teams see a shift as well.
In 2A nearby Cumberland Gap will be in Region 1 with Hampton, Happy Valley, and South Greene. While in a Region 2 Oneida will face York Institute, Monterey, Rockwood, and Wartburg.
The local 3A regions will also feature some neighboring schools. Region 1 will see Claiborne County in a region with Chuckey-Doak, Johnson County, Unicoi County, and West Greene. Union County will be in Region 2 with Alcoa, Austin-East, Gatlinburg-Pittman, Kingston, Northview Academy, and Pigeon Forge.
In Region 2 of 4A Anderson County and Scott High will face Fulton, Carter, Gibbs, and South Doyle.
