Jake Ward signs his scholarship surrounded by his family and teammates

With last soccer season a distant memory and graduation behind him Jake Ward is now signed to play soccer on the nest level. Ward, who was a member of the all district team last season, signed papers to become a Patriot of the University of the Cumberlands.

When asked why he chose to go to the Cumberlands Ward, like may former Cougars who have decided to become Patriots, cited the great family atmosphere that was offered at the Williamsbug institution. Ward is planning to major in biology and looks to become a nurse anesthetist as a career.

Ward told the Times that he planned to go up and work hard his freshman season and was going to try to contribute as much as possible his first season. He feels that with hard work he will see some playing time before his freshman campaign concludes.

Ward will have at least one familiar face on the soccer pitch with him as his fellow Cougar turned Patriot Matthew Laxton will reunite and hopefully bring some of that soccer magic that they displayed last season with the Cougars up to Williamsburg.
