Whitney McClanahan was one of the most beloved athlete to graduate from Jellico High School. After graduation she became a coach for youth athletic on the northern end of Campbell County. She passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in January 2019.

Her friends and family found a way to honor her memory and keep her legacy alive supporting youth athletics by holding a 5K race in her honor. It is held at Indian Mountain State Park, where McClanahan was employed.\

The 2019 Whitney Mac 5K will take place Saturday June 22nd at 7 PM. Entry fee is $25 and packets will be distributed at Indian Mountain State Park starting at 5:30 PM.

The official description of the race states, “The Whitney Mac 5k is a run/walk event in memory of Whitney McClanahan who was a beloved member of the community and was active in sports and running. She played, she coached and she actively participated in the community. The proceeds from this event will go to support local athletics which were very dear to her heart. There will be medals for age divisions as well as overall finishers.”
