Though spring sports were cancelled by the TSSAA amid the COVID 19 crisis at least one Cougar athlete will have an opportunity to play his skills on the college level.
Michael Brown has received an offer from the Finlandia Lions. Brown, the lone senior on the Cougar Baseball team, had been named All District on two occasions. Brown is a first baseman and a right handed pitcher. He was a standout outside linebacker for Cougar Football.
When asked about his opportunity Brown said, “When he (Finlandia head baseball coach Evan Brandt) text me at first I didn’t believe it but it’s what I’ve worked my whole life for, especially after my senior season ending like it did I’m truly blessed.”
Finlandia University is a private Lutheran university in Hancock, Michigan. It is the only private university in the Upper Peninsula. They compete in the NCAA Division III Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
