The Cougars traveled to JayCee Park in Clinton this afternoon to take on the Mavericks of Anderson County in a district tennis battle.

The Mavericks took the win on the girls side of the ledger. Shelby Bargy did pull off a victory for the Cougars in her individual match.

On the boys side of things the Cougars fared much better, scoring a 7-2 win over the Mavs. As a doubles pair, Garrett Medley and Jack Leach took home a win, as did the pairing of Nate Walden and Drew Crowley.
The singles side saw an incredibly exciting match for 2 seed Jack Leach. After taking a commanding 6-1 lead in the race to 8 the Maverick he was facing rallied to tie it at 6 games apiece. Leach refocused and went all out over the final two games, leaping and diving all over the court for balls. He ended up getting out the final two games for an 8-6 win.

Nate Walden had an equally exciting singles match that went on until all other matches had finished. A determined Walden also pulled out an 8-6 victory for the Cougars.
Leach remains unbeaten in his first ever tennis season and has moved up to the #2 seed slot for the Cougars.
