The City of Jellico has began paperwork to switch over the ownership license from Rennova Health to the City of Jellico until another entity takes over. Meanwhile Rennova is in the process of packing up their equipment and property and leaving the premises. Jellico Council member, Sandy Terry, said they are expected to be out by next week.

“Rennova did not maintain equipment in the hospital. They were suppose to maintain the equipment and they were not providing the level of care the people in this area needed so we had no choice but to terminate the contract,” said Mayor Dwight Osborn. “Our plan is to have full medical services available.”

He added, “We do have more than one medical entity interested [in taking over operation] of Jellico Medical Center.”

Until another entity takes over, the council voted to hire security to watch over the hospital 24/7
